how to pan toast Panko breadcrumbs
See these Panko breadcrumbs? They are so savory and crunchy and delicious and add an additional welcomed texture to vegetable dishes and soups alike. AND, they are super easy to make. Here’s all you do…
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a 10-inch nonstick pan on medium-high heat. Once the oil starts swirling around in the pan, indicating that it’s approaching the smoking point, add 1 heaping cup of Panko breadcrumbs. It’s really important that the oil be hot enough because otherwise the breadcrumbs will just absorb the oil instead of cooking around it and they will be greasy and gross. So bring that oil just up to the point that it’s almost smoking before you add the breadcrumbs.
Cook them, stirring constantly, for 3 to 4 minutes until they look golden.
Season with salt and pepper and transfer them to a bowl.
