We cannot survive on food alone. Occasionally or – preferably – daily, we must imbibe.
Since Thanksgiving, Erik and I have been sipping on this slightly sweet and refreshingly tangy vodka martini, made with leftover cranberry sauce of all crazy things. It has the most vibrant ruby red color! It’s just lovely.
And it’s pretty darn good….see? All gone.
Try it for yourself. It’s a snap to make.
making cranberry sauce martinis
Just spoon 2 cups of leftover cranberry sauce and 1 750-milliliter bottle of good-quality vodka into a large, airtight container and mix well. Store in the freezer for 3 days. When ready, strain the cranberry solids into a measuring cup using a fine mesh strainer.
To serve, rub the rims of your martini glasses with a wedge of orange. Then, dip each glass rim into a saucer of sugar, gently turning each one for an even coating. Chill the glasses in the freezer for 15 minutes. Pour the vodka into the chilled glasses and enjoy. Makes 12-14 luscious, ruby red drinks.
